Carmina interpretation of the classic Jodhpur Boot in brown Vegano. Featuring a York rubber sole in a Goodyear welt-construction and calf lining. This shoe, like all the other Carmina's, is carefully manufactured by expert craftsmen who follow the exact same techniques that Charles Goodyear created in 1869. For this style, we have chosen the Forest, one of the house´s oldest lasts. Rounded at the tip, smooth fitting with normal instep and generous space at the front.
FOREST
Forest is Carmina’s most archetypal and early last. With its classic and timeless design, this last seems to resist the course of time. In fact, it is the favourite last for the Albaladejo family. Proof of this is the fact that, 15 years after it was released, it is still one of the most popular lasts. Rounded toe, regular instep and more room across the forepart.

Vegano leather
Vegano leather still consists of calf skin. The difference with boxcalf skin is that it is not given the final finish in the tannery. Therefore, the brightness and the final colour is more flexible and can be modified by clients. If you would like to create patinas, burnishing, mirror shines... this leather will offer perfect results.

York
York soles are slightly thicker than Tomir and still have some leather parts. This option does not cover the sole completely with rubber which it can still be worn with a formal attire.

I've now had the opportunity to wear these for about 72h of walking around, and I'm very impressed. Right out of the box I've never seen fit and finish, stitch density, leather grain quality, or attention to detail that even comes anywhere close at this price point or for that matter much more expensive price points.
I took a chance and got the added metal toe inserts on a blind guess in size and fit making them unreturnable. Initially I thought I'd made a mistake as my heel was lifting a bit. Wrong. Within 24h if walking about, the leather has molded to my feat and the boots are more comfortable than my well worn RM Williams Chelseas. It would be nice if there was an option of brass for the toes though.
Also of note, the Vegano calf takes one hell of a shine with almost no work.
Only minor complaints are: 1. They arrived a bit lighter than I'd have hoped from the picture, and 2. The finish and leather treatment certainly didn't resist water spotting out of the box. These "faults" are turning in to a bit of a blessing though as, with a bit of work and some care products and Carmina products, I've actually got the beginnings of a bit of a lovely patina.
