Leather soles and Rendenbach
Rendenbach sole
Having so many options, how does one choose – well firstly, what sort of style are you looking for and where do you plan to wear your shoes?
For example, for a formal event or a pair with a leather sole is the most appropriate. At Carmina you can choose between our own Carmina stamped leather sole or the infamous Joh Rendenbach leather soles which uses biodegradable tanning agents such as bark and fruit. This ecological tanning method results in an especially long lasting very comfortable to wear and not to mention optically distinguished by its attractive grain and warm, woody colour.
A slightly higher use or not so friendly climates are both factors that suggest using a rubber sole option.
Our Tomir and York are both half rubber soles that represent the perfect options for office wear and dress shoes. The latter is slightly thicker but can still be worn with formal attires. If you wish to give your shoes a bit more grip and wear them with moderate rain, Tomir soles can be installed on most of our existing leather soles options, feel free to ask us more about it.

Aspen sole
Victoria sole
Transitioning to rainier days and cobblestoned streets we recommend pairing any casual laced shoes with thicker rubber soles options such as Silver (popular choice), Victoria (Victory), Aspen or Country.
Due to its ingenious design, the Victoria sole prevents from stones or salt o remain attached to it. Both Aspen and Country soles are manufacturing using Hevea milk from the Hevea tree. Hevea milk is harvested by making narrow incisions on the tree’s bark. The milk would eventually pour out of these.
Once harvested, this pure virgin milk is refined to create a unique sole filled with tiny air bubbles that offer exceptional levels of comfort. The process used to make the LACTAE HEVEA® sole is unique, it is in fact very similar to the production of cheese: The milk is poured into the molds, thickened, baked and cured.
Silver sole
Tramuntana sole
One of the most frequent questions we get asked is which outsoles are appropriate for snow or heavy rain?
Tramuntana and Commando are our go-to top choice that work best in harsh weather conditions. Not to mention they complement extremely well the military style boots or informal shoe styles.
All repairs, resoles and metal toe caps installations are done here at our factory in Mallorca, feel free to ask for a quote if your shoes need the care of our craftsmen.
